Celebrate the Small Things

Two years ago, Vikki at VikLit Blog started a weekly hop called Celebrate the Small Things.  It's a delightful and easy hop, the participants are wonderful, and I've loved being part of it.  Now, after doing a great job for so long, she's stepping aside -- and I'll be your new blog-hop host!  Yippie!

How it works:

1) Sign up on the linky list below. (Put in your name or your blog name, and your email, and your blog's address, and hit "Submit.") EDIT - Because of spam links, the linky is closed. Please write and request your blog to be added to the hop at: laura.6eg(at)gmail.com
2) Each Friday, post in your blog something you wish to celebrate achieving / doing that week.
It can be writing related: I finished a tricky chapter! I worked on my outline!
It can be reading related: I read two books!
It can be life related: I tidied my sock drawer! My child finally ate something green! I cleaned the shed!
Sometimes the week's been so tough you can just celebrate surviving it.  This week I was sick as a dog, but I'm still alive and hope to recover soon.
Feel free to include your celebration item within a post covering other topics.

2A) Use the badge, and link to this blog page -- http://lexacain.blogspot.com/2015/01/celebrate-small-things.html  And you can grab the linky html and use it on your post.
3) Hop around other blogs and offer congratulations/a pat on the back to other people. If everyone visits at least a few other blogs, we'll all have some congratulations.
4) Feel warm and fuzzy inside!

Two kind and wonderful co-hosts are helping:

When someone comments on my blog, I always go to theirs to return a comment.  But I've been having trouble recently.  When I hit publish on some blogs, my comment doesn't appear.  Even if I try to comment using another browzer (I have 4), I can't get anything to appear.  I think I'm accidentally tripping the SPAM guard.

So please check your SPAM folder because I may be in there!  HELP get me out of SPAM!!

Hey, Lexa,

I always enjoyed reading this hop. So happy you are taking it over for Vicki...

I'll sign up next week since I already have my post written for this Friday...

ALL the best this year! It's a wonderful thing to appreciate the small things in life!

Congratulations on being the new host of this little bloghop! Maybe I'll get on board with it, which I've never been able to do consistently.

Awesome you are taking on the bloghop!
Sorry you are having trouble commenting. I will go check my spam folder right now.

I've noticed a lot of blogs have the "I am not a robot" button that did not require Captcha before. Has Blogger changed some settings without telling anyone? Maybe it's related somehow. Enjoy running the hop!

Congrats on your new hosting gig! I know you'll be a wonderful host. :)

Congrats on being the blog hop host. Sorry, but I don't post on Fridays so I can't join. And I have the same problem with a few blogs. Not sure why it happens.

Congrats on being the new host, and here's wishing you tons of visiting strength and fun. The new spam button is driving me crazy at the moment. grrr.

I'm happy to continue to help! This is my most favorite all time blog hop ever :) Thanks for stepping up to host Lexa!

I'm having the same problem when I comment, but it only happens when I log in AFTER writing a comment. Once I'm logged in, it's fine. I always copy my comment first just in case.

oh, cute!! I'm going to check this hop out, as I love encouragement and encouraging others! I think my small thing this week is that I feel very confident about my new MS, and I'm loving it!

Fun bloghop gig, eh?
I need to write myself a 2014 gratitude list so I can meditate on all of the good things that happened and feel thankful.

Congratulations on becoming the host. I love reading your inspirational posts. :)

Congrats on taking over the blog hop! I love that hop! At the same time, I'm struggling to blog on Fridays (today is an exception because of something cancelled).

Congrats on taking over the log hop, Lexa!! I'm going got have to start joining in on this one :)

Once I get home this evening, I'll put my post up! I've always liked the concept, since it's so nice to take a minute to celebrate what's gone right that week.

Unknown said...

Congrats on your new hosting gig! So nice of you to do that! Happy New Year!

Sharon Himsl said...

Really like this blog hop. We can always think of something to celebrate and it keeps us positive-minded. Thanks for doing this, Lexa!

How wonderful, Lexa! Congratulations on taking on this fun blog hop. I'll return this coming week too.

I'm not sure how to check a blog spot spam folder, but I'll investigate, right away. I seem to be getting your comments on my other posts.(smile)

See you soon!!

Thank you SO for taking this over - YAY so glad it will live on!

Thank you for taking over the blog hop! I have the same problem with comments not appearing sometimes. I found one site that said comments would not appear until they were approved, so I thought maybe the others sites were doing this, too.

Thanks for taking over this hop! :)

So sorry you've been feeling bad. Hope you're better soon. Have a great 2015.

Yay on taking on the bloghop... I'm in... Love this bloghop. All signed up and ready to go for the new year:)

I check my spam folder once in a while. I haven't seen you in there. Commenting has become buggy lately.

I'm sorry happy you took over the blog hop Lexa! Thrilled it gets to live on. If everything goes well with me and my therapies and I find that I can post faithfully every week, maybe I can help co-host!

Luanne G. Smith said...

Congrats on the new hosting gig. I like the sentiment behind the hop. Always good to be grateful for the small things. :)

And, hey, Happy New Year!!

Jeff Chapman said...

Congrats on the new hosting gig. I hope it doesn't get in the way of your writing. : ) Your comments have been coming through on my blog.

Heather R. Holden said...

Ooh, you're the host now? Very cool! Congrats! :)

None of your comments have ever ended up in my spam folder, as far as I can remember. (And I actually do check the spam folder daily.) Sorry to hear that's been happening!

Julia Thorley said...

Thank you for taking over co-hosting. I missed yesterday, but will join in from next week.

Kelley said...

This hop has always been hella fun, so thanks for taking it on. I really enjoy it and look forward to its new journey!

It's a wonderful hop, i know you will do a great job with it!

As for spam, i haven't had any comments in my spam folder in a long time.

Birgit said...

I wonder if that has happened to me. Sometimes I leave a comment and then when I leave it asks if I want to leave the page as if I was not finished. I have no idea:) Congrats on being the host and I hope you are beginning to fell better. Peppermint tea!

Lexa,

I've watched you celebrate the little things with enthusiasm for I-don't-know-how-long now, and it's always brought a warm spot to my Fridays. I live by a philosophy of "How you do the little things is how you do the big ones," and if we learn to appreciate the seemingly small, it makes the large things that much grander.

You're a perfect fit as the new chair of Celebrate the Small Things. Congrats!

Way to go, Lexa!

Diana Wilder said...

Thanks for taking over, Lexa! Don't get too upset over comments not appearing. I have my setting at 'read and approve' on any new comments after getting spam. As soon as I see a comment I approve it. And no, I'm not a robot... :)

Stephanie Faris said...

I'd check, but I just came over here from a comment you wrote on last week's blog, so I know yours are getting through on mine! I think there is a glitch in Blogger...I thought they'd fixed it, but it sounds like they haven't. And sometimes I think people have moderation enabled but it doesn't SAY they have it enabled, so you don't know what happened!

Suzanne Furness said...

Glad to hear you are able to take over this fun hop. After a sporadic few weeks for me I hope to be able to join in again very soon. Will get signed up!

Nigel G Mitchell said...

Great you're running the blog hop. I didn't even know I had a spam folder, so I'll need to check that

Jay Noel said...

I've had comments disappear too! I thought it was just me. How very strange.

Maybe Blogger was changing something in the background to get rid of bots.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

I'm impressed! My sock drawer remains a cluttered mess.

Hope you feel better soon!

You're a busy bee, Lexa. I hope you the comments thingy work for you now.

Ava Quinn said...

I feel you on the illness front. I hope you're back in top form pronto!

And yay you for stepping in to take over this cool hop. You're so awesome! :)

Ava Quinn said...

p.s. I always get your comments over at my blog when I deign to actually put up a post. (Oy, I have so many excuses, it's ridiculous.) And love them.

(Okay, I mainly wanted to bump up my comment standings and comment twice.)
;P

I'd never let you dog paddle in the Spam Folder. You know that!

So glad you're continuing the Small Things Hop. I really enjoyed being a part of it. When I collect my life and make it manageable again, I'll return to Fridays and celebrating the Small Things, which are extremely important.

Christine Rains said...

If only I could get my child to eat something green! :) I love reading people's Friday celebrations. Glad you're continuing with it. Have a great week!

DMS said...

I am so sorry that commenting is a problem at times! It happens to me sometimes too. Because of that I try to check my blog spam folder each week to make sure no one important (like you) accidentally ended up there. Sometime I find if I hit preview first it will let me publish my comment. Good luck! :)

Hey Lexa,

Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar, hopes you are no longer sick as a dog. Arf to that.

Vital question! Did all your socks match?

Your appreciated comments come through to my site no problem.

Commenting issues are such a pain. It's happened to me more than once. Hope it works out and you feel better.

Bish Denham said...

Good for you for taking on the hop. I've thought about it... Maybe I could incorporate it with my Thankful Thursday? I'll have to think about it.

Carol Kilgore said...

I hope you never have trouble commenting at the Tiki Hut. Please email me if you do.

Elizabeth Seckman said...

Hope you're feeling better!

I like to return comments too. My trouble is when people don't have their blogs linked with their profiles. Some days it takes me forever to hunt them down.

LD Masterson said...

I always enjoy blogs that are doing this hop. It would be fun to join but I don't want to take on another blog/post day right now.

Please email me if you ever have trouble commenting on my blog.

You're the new hostess? How awesome! I love the meme, but I've never hopped on board because I'm down to blogging once a week and it seems there's never enough room to say everything I want to. But it's such a joy reading other people's celebration posts.

Melanie said...

Ooh congrats on taking over the bloghop, Lexa! Sounds like a lot of fun :)

Annie Neugebauer said...

This is great to hear! I always love reading your happy little announcements and accomplishments. Congrats on becoming the new ring leader. :)

Hi Lexa, thanks for inviting me back to the blog hop - this year I am going to have to be a little more creative in participating, I hope you don't mind. I kind of smashed two blog hops into one - yours and a book related one. Otherwise I would have to drop one of you, and I really don't want to! Hugs and blessings!

Laura Clipson said...

Thanks for your message! After a far too long blogging break, I'm back and ready to celebrate!

Anonymous said...

I'm late to the party, but thanks for taking over Lexa!

Jocelyn Rish said...

Congrats on the new hosting gig! Since you're one of the sweetest people I've met while blogging, I know you'll be the hostess with the mostest! :-)

BTW, I apologize for my lengthy lack of blog visits, but I'm so grateful you've continued stopping by my place. Hopefully I'm now back on track. :-)

Where can I get the code to the badge? I joined but the only code I can find is to the linky which I don't want in my sidebar...I couldn't find another way to contact you about this so I am posting a comment asking...

Ann V Friend said...

Is there a code for the blog hop listing of participants? How can I get it? Thank you.

Unknown said...

Jenifer - Sorry, I don't have a code for the badge. I just copy image and paste.

Ann- Yes, there's a code for the Linky. Underneath it is the message "Grab the Linky html-code here:" and a small box (that you can make bigger by pulling on the lower right corner). The java-script code is in there.

Sharon Himsl said...

Get well soon Lexa. Thanks for keeping this hop going. I check my spam folder often. All the best!

Happy weekend, Lexa. Hope it brings you new things to celebrate.

From a mutual blog friend I heard this was the funnest, lol blog hop, so thought I'd get ready to join you all. My blog is http://4ccccs.blogspot.com/ and called Sandy's Space. I saved the badge to my computer and will get a post at the ready (scheduled) for next Friday. Would appreciate you're adding me to the link. Do you mean if I nab the code for the link the list will also appear on my blog? Try clearing your casche and cookies, see if that helps you with the comment problems you've been having. Clearing your casche solves lots of weird computer snafu's. A tech guy once told me it's the very first thing to do anytime you're having trouble, then reboot. Good Luck. Looking forward to the fun next Friday.

Hi. This is just to say that quite a few of the Friday group seem to have Wordpress. I don't and therefore can't comment on their posts - but I am reading as many posts as time allows :)
